Reimbursement summary for angioplasty of arteries of lower extremities

Dutch Healthcare Authority published the second release of the DRG package for 2024

On September 28, 2023, the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) published the second release of the DRG package for the year 2024 (RZ24b) that applies to specialist medical care and geriatric rehabilitation care. It includes one new procedure code, two supplementary payments, and three new DRGs. 

A new procedure code 050524 “Pathological examination – predictive immunohistochemical diagnosis in the context of therapy” will be implemented. The code is intended for immunohistochemical investigation of protein expression in tissues to predict the effect of treatment.

The following two new supplementary payments (OZPs) will be implemented:

  • 039866 “Urine tumor marker test”;
  • 192160 “Perfusion for DCD heart donation (donation after circulatory death) with oxygen-rich blood”.

Several new DRGs for Adolescents and Young Adults (AYA) care for young adults aged 18 to 39 years diagnosed with cancer will be implemented, including:

  • DRG 219799033 “More than 4 outpatient clinic visits/remote consultations for complex age-related AYA cancer care”;
  • DRG 219799035 “1 or 2 outpatient clinic visits/remote consultations for complex age-related AYA cancer care”.

Adolescents and Young Adults (AYA) care is a unique medical and psychosocial care that meets the needs of adolescents and young adults due to their stage of life, such as questions about fertility, entering the labor market, or entering relationships.

The effective date of the release is January 1, 2024.
