Danish Health Authority has published new national clinical guideline for spinal stabilization in adults with trauma

The new guideline "Spinal Stabilization of Adult Patients with Trauma in Denmark" (Spinal Stabilisering af voksne traumepatienter i Danmark) has been prepared by an interdisciplinary national working group, including Danish Society for Acute Medicine. This is the first national clinical guideline funded via grants for development of National Clinical Guidelines (NKR pool).

The new one in the guideline is that it recommends to use both rigid necklaces and spine boards (hard fixation) as otherwise practiced. Instead, vacuum mattress is recommended as vacuum mattress causes less harm to the patients.
