Changes in the Danish Health Care Classification System from July 2023
The Danish Health Data Authority (Sundheddatastyrelsen) quarterly updates the Health Care Classification System (Sundhedsvæsenets Klassifikations System, SKS), which includes coding for procedures, diagnoses, and other codes (e.g., administrative, pharmaceuticals). The latest version was published in mid-June to come into force on July 1, 2023.
Sixteen new surgical procedure codes were introduced concerning interventional procedures in endocrinology, orthopedic procedures, and lymph node surgery and 26 new medical procedure codes.
Some examples of newly added codes are provided below:
- KBAA24 Ethanol ablation of the thyroid gland;
- KPJD41C Excision of the sentinel lymph node on the neck.
