2025 Finnish NordDRG system came into force
On January 1, 2025, the annual update of the Finnish NordDRG system came into force. There are 1005 DRGs in the 2025 DRG system, compared to 981 DRGs in 2024. Among other changes, 54 new DRGs were introduced, and 30 DRGs were discontinued; these changes mostly relate to splitting already existing DRGs into uncomplicated, complicated, or very complicated cases. Some examples of new DRGs are provided below:
- 127M Heart failure or cardiogenic shock, very complicated;
- 705O Cardiac ultrasound, short treatment;
- 493C Endoscopic or laparoscopic cholecystectomy or gallbladder or bile duct surgery, complicated;
- 065N Balance disorder, uncomplicated;
- 349N Prostatic hyperplasia;
- 384B Pregnancy, uncomplicated;
- 248C Tendinitis, myositis or bursitis, complicated;
- 078C Pulmonary embolism, complicated;
- 082N Respiratory tumors, uncomplicated;
- 214N Spinal fusion, uncomplicated;
- 415M Operative treatment of infectious disease, very complicated.
