February 2026 recommendations about add-on reimbursement for medical devices in France

The French National Authority for Health (HAS) released new recommendations on the registration of medical devices and medical aids in the List of Reimbursable Products and Services (LPPR) following the February 2026 meetings of the National Commission for the Evaluation of Medical Devices and Health Technologies (CNEDiMTS). Favourable opinions were issued on the add-on reimbursement for six new devices and on the extension of indications for two devices, in the cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, and ENT fields.

Med Tech-related technology assessments from NICE in February 2026

In February 2026, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) published three new HealthTech Guidances (HTGs) on transcatheter tricuspid valve implantation, leadless cardiac pacemakers for bradyarrhythmia, and pulmonary artery pressure technologies for remote monitoring of chronic heart failure.

Changes in the OPCS procedure coding classification to take effect in April 2026 in England

In November 2025, NHS England released a final summary of core changes between OPCS-4.10 and OPCS-4.11, a procedure coding classification updated every three years. Multiple changes were implemented, including 572 new four-character (subcategory) codes in various fields, such as cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, diagnostic imaging, endoscopy, gastroenterology, urology and nephrology, obstetrics and gynecology, men’s health, neurology and neurosurgery, pulmonology, orthopedics, spine, interventional radiology, and radiotherapy. OPCS-4.11 is expected to take effect on April 1, 2026.

New Med Tech-related HTAs to support reimbursement decision-making in Austria

On July 15, 2025, the Austrian Institute for HTA (AIHTA) published four new HTAs (decision support documents) and two updates to previous decision support documents that provide recommendations regarding possible inclusion of new procedures in the reimbursement catalog of individual medical services (MEL). The assessments concerned cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, interventional radiology, men's health, urology, and orthopedics fields.

Technologies awaiting coverage decisions in Norway

In May 2025, the evaluation phase of the “New Methods” framework was completed for three technologies: leadless pacemaker for cardiac arrhythmias, MR-guided focused ultrasound for essential tremor, and Electrical Field Therapy for glioblastoma treatment. As the recommendations from HTA are now available, the Decision Forum needs to make coverage decisions for these technologies.

Recommendations about add-on reimbursement for medical devices in France in April 2024

The French National Authority for Health (HAS) released new recommendations about add-on reimbursement of medical devices and medical aids from the meetings of the National Commission for Evaluation of Medical Devices and Health Technologies (CNEDiMTS) in April 2024. Eighteen recommendations were published concerning the registration of medical devices or modification of registration conditions/extension of indications for the medical devices in the List of Reimbursable Products and Services (LPPR). Opinions concern cardiovascular, neurovascular, gastrointestinal, interventional radiology, nephrology and urology, neuromodulation, and orthopedic devices, as well as medical aids.

Transcatheter intracardiac pacing systems added to the List of reimbursable devices in Belgium

In March 2023, the National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (INAMI-RIZIV) updated the List of reimbursable devices and Nominative lists to take effect on April 1, 2023. Eight new codes for intracardiac transcatheter pacing systems with the corresponding conditions of reimbursement were added to the List, and two devices (Micra VR and Micra AV) were registered on the list of brands connected to that new codes.

Recently published medtech-related HTAs in Wales

In January-February 2023, Health Technology Wales published sixteen Medtech-related Topic Exploration Reports (TER), including stereotactic radiosurgery, percutaneous implantation of pulmonary artery pressure sensors, ambulatory patch ECG devices, and others; however, Health Technology Wales will not proceed with full appraisals on these topics. No Guidance was released for Medtech in January-February 2023.

New procedure codes introduced in March 2021 in Finland

In late March 2021, multiple new procedure codes were introduced by the Code Service of the Finnish National Health and Wellbeing Institution (THL), including ten neuromodulation codes, 54 codes in the ophthalmology area, and three codes in the cardiovascular area.
