Call for topics of national relevance for evaluation in Denmark
On March 20, 2026, the Danish Healthcare Quality Institute (DHQI) invited healthcare stakeholders to submit proposals for clinical issues requiring evidence-based analysis or evaluation. Submissions are intended to inform national health technology assessments and support the development of consistent, high-quality care across Denmark.
DHQI focuses on clinical issues of national relevance and does not consider topics limited to a single hospital, region, or other local setting. Proposals should address areas where there is a need for greater consistency in clinical practice, uncertainty about best practice, opportunities to improve patient care, or a need to reduce unnecessary treatments or examinations at a national level.
Particular emphasis is placed on topics that could help free up workforce capacity and healthcare resources, as well as those that identify low-value interventions. Through this prioritization, DHQI aims to maximize health outcomes relative to available resources.
Proposals may be submitted by a range of healthcare stakeholders, including professional societies, hospitals, and regional authorities. Submissions must be completed using a standard form and sent via email.
Following submission, proposals undergo an initial validation process. Eligible topics are then included in a structured prioritization process, with the DHQI Board selecting, twice yearly (in January and September), which clinical issues will be taken forward.
Selected topics are assessed by DHQI’s Council, which is responsible for examining the evidence and developing national recommendations or guidance. These may include recommendations for broader adoption of effective interventions or for discontinuing practices that do not provide sufficient value. Health economic considerations are also incorporated into the evaluation process.
