Blog: Project ideas: What HEOR projects are requested by our clients? Part 3

Market access is a challenging field. Multiple priorities have to be managed within a limited budget. We would like to share the anonymized outlines of the projects in the HEOR and market access fields commissioned to MTRC to inspire our clients.

The next example is the rapid development of value messages to support positioning and marketing activities.

Value messages to support positioning and marketing activities

Situation:

Our client (a large multinational corporation) is one of the market leaders in the gynecology field. They face growing competition from the emerging me-too products, and the Global VP of Marketing tasked the Market Access Department to provide evidence-based value statements to differentiate the company’s key product from emerging competitors.

Who was involved:

On the client’s side, the project was commissioned/supervised by a team of three Global Directors of Reimbursement and Market Access.

The solution:

We scoped the project around a literature review of the efficacy, safety, and cost/cost-effectiveness of the product.

The rapid search in Medline and Medline In-Process identified an old systematic literature review of RCTs from the mid-2000s with dozens of RCTs included. An additional search was performed to identify newer RCTs for the target product. Despite the presence of hundreds of observational studies, the focus was primarily on the RCTs as the gold standard of effectiveness and safety.

Additionally, the search was performed for cost and cost-effectiveness studies for the target product. The data were extremely limited, and only several relevant studies were identified.

Results were reviewed in the 50-page report, and evidence-based value statements were summarized for the target product vs. individual competitors. The project was completed within tight timelines of only six weeks.

The report helped the client to re-scope the positioning of the product in the marketing materials of the company.

We hope this overview was useful. If you have any needs in the field of market access, health economics, and evidence review and synthesis, do not hesitate to book a call with us to discuss your situation.
