Regular update of the Norwegian Laboratory Code System released
On January 23, 2023, the Norwegian Directorate of e-Health released an updated version of the National Laboratory code (NLK) system (Norsk laboratoriekodeverk 7280.66) and associated tariffs (Laboratoriekodeverk som gir rett til refusjon) for state and private laboratories to be implemented no later than March 1, 2023.
NLK system is used for activity-based reimbursement by the Norwegian Health Economics Administration (Helfo) for laboratory tests performed in outpatient settings.
Twenty-four new codes were added to NLK in the areas of medical biochemistry, immunology and transfusiology, and medical microbiology. Some examples of the newly added codes are:
- NOR35275 P-Renin activity;
- NPU61040 ctDNA(P)-BRAF gene;
- NPU61013 Us-Monkeypox virus typing;
- NPU61026 Us-Serratia marcescens DNA.
