MTRC has released European reimbursement report for invasive procedures for treatment of varicose veins of lower extremities in 11 EU countries

The report presents a summary of reimbursement situation for invasive procedures for treatment of varicose veins of lower extremities in Europe. Procedure codes for the following interventions will be provided in the analysis: sclerotherapy; catheter-assisted procedures using radiofrequency ablation, laser ablation or mechanochemical ablation; high ligation and vein stripping; phlebectomy; endovenous ultrasound-guided obliteration using cyanoacrylate glue or other agents. The analysis covers procedure coding, payment mechanism, reimbursement tariffs and policy restrictions in 11 EU countries including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland. It is also possible to add analysis in Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Romania, Russia and Turkey.

The report presents a summary of reimbursement situation for left atrial appendage occlusion for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation in Europe. The following types of procedure will be considered: percutaneous transluminal left atrial appendage occlusion; thoracoscopic left atrial appendage closure. The analysis covers procedure coding, payment mechanism, reimbursement tariffs and policy restrictions in 11 EU countries including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland. It is also possible to add analysis in Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Romania, Russia and Turkey.

Bone-anchored prosthesis assessment initiated in Norway in May 2019

On the 7th of May 2019, the new evaluation for bone-anchored prosthesis has been commenced in a framework of New Method, which provides a way for a managed introduction of innovations into Norwegian health care system. The proposal for the assessment was submitted by Oslo University Hospital in order to receive an opportunity to offer this method to achieve overall money saving and medical benefits as nowadays, only conventional prostheses are offered, and patients are sent to Gothenburg to receive the treatment, that is financed by the Norwegian health service.
