Updates of the Belgian List of reimbursable devices in October 2025
In October 2025, the Belgian National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (INAMI/RIZIV) updated the List of implants and invasive medical devices. The key changes are outlined below.
A new sub-chapter “Reconstruction of large bone defects” was added with multiple new material codes, including codes for components used in the replacement of the femur, tibia, humerus, and ulna, along with corresponding reimbursement tariffs and conditions. Some examples of newly added codes include:
- 186012-186023 “Component for replacement of the proximal humerus”
- 185931-185942 “Component for replacement of the distal femur, with a silver coating”;
A new sub-chapter “Pre-formed periarticular osteosynthesis plate providing angular stability” was introduced with one new material code for the pre-formed periarticular osteosynthesis plate providing angular-stable locking, designed for use on the patella, along with reimbursement tariffs and related conditions.
Furthermore, Nominative lists were updated in October 2025. These lists specify certain brands in connection with material codes on the List of implants and invasive medical devices, when brand-specific registration is required.
- Two new Nominative lists were introduced, with multiple brand-specific devices for the reconstruction of large bone defects, linked to the newly added material codes.
