Annex 2 of the EBM catalog will be enriched with further interventional procedures in Germany
On November 20, 2025, the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV) announced that Annex 2 of the updated German Uniform Evaluation Standard (EBM) catalog, scheduled for publication on January 1, 2026, will be expanded to include additional interventional procedures.
This applies to areas such as glaucoma surgery, pacemakers/defibrillators, bowel resections, diaphragmatic hernias, and re-osteosyntheses.
The corresponding decision was made by the Evaluation Committee on November 3, 2025.
Annex 2 “Assignment of the operative procedures according to §295 SGB V (OPS) to the services of chapters 31 and 36” of the EBM catalog determines the allocation of the interventional procedures performed in day case settings and described using hospital (OPS) procedure codes to specific EBM categories. The Evaluation Committee annually updates Annex 2 of the EBM catalog to reflect the new OPS version and makes any necessary adjustments.
