Reimbursement summary for angioplasty of arteries of lower extremities

This post presents an extract from our reimbursement analysis for angioplasty of arteries lower extremities using plain and drug-coated balloons (DCBs) for peripheral artery disease in England, France and Germany. Plain balloon angioplasty is reimbursement via DRG solely and DCBs are reimbursement via combination of DRG and add-on reimbursement.

The updated LPPR list for add-on reimbursement published in France

On May 09, 2022, the updated List of Reimbursable Products and Services (LPPR) was published. It contains new devices included in the LPPR list in April 2022, as well as other modifications made during this period (e.g., renewal of listing, update of tariff, etc.). New devices that were introduced in the LPPR list belong to the endocrine and gastrointestinal technology groups.

In the updated version of the LPPR, there are several newly introduced codes for medical devices.

Regarding the endocrine technology group, the following codes for the MINIMED 780G semi-closed loop system integrating SMARTGUARD technology by Medtronic were added:

  • 1197447 “Semi-closed loop, MEDTRONIC, MINIMED 780G, day package for the use of the continuous interstitial glucose sensor and the transmitter kit” with the reimbursement tariff of €8.67;
  • 1182470 “Semi-closed loop, MEDTRONIC, MINIMED 780G, day package for the use of pump” with the reimbursement tariff of €6.85;
  • 1197789 “Semi-closed loop, MEDTRONIC, MINIMED 780G, day package for the service provider or the pharmacist for the provision of all the consumables associated with the system” with the reimbursement tariff of €4.69;
  • 1169758 “Semi-closed loop, MEDTRONIC, MINIMED 780G, initial technical training package” with the reimbursement tariff of €390.91;
  • 1139817 “Semi-closed loop, MEDTRONIC, MINIMED 780G, quarterly follow-up visit” with the reimbursement tariff of €10.55;
  • 1185125 “Semi-closed loop, MEDTRONIC, MINIMED 780G, monthly delivery” with the reimbursement tariff of €5.28.

Regarding the gastrointestinal technology group, the following codes for the PERISTEEN PLUS transanal irrigation system from COLOPLAST were added:

  • 1180671 “Transanal irrigation device, COLOPLAST, PERISTEEN PLUS, initial system” with the reimbursement tariff of €104.95;
  • 1195230 “Transanal irrigation device, COLOPLAST, PERISTEEN PLUS, rectal probes, B/15” with the reimbursement tariff of €173.83;
  • 1129977 “Transanal irrigation device, COLOPLAST, PERISTEEN PLUS, tubing, B/2” with the reimbursement tariff of €20.16.
