Reimbursement summary for angioplasty of arteries of lower extremities

This post presents an extract from our reimbursement analysis for angioplasty of arteries lower extremities using plain and drug-coated balloons (DCBs) for peripheral artery disease in England, France and Germany. Plain balloon angioplasty is reimbursement via DRG solely and DCBs are reimbursement via combination of DRG and add-on reimbursement.

Several breathing chambers were included in the list of pharmaceutical benefits by Dental and Pharmaceutical Benefit Agency

On the 14th of May of 2018, Dental and Pharmaceutical Benefit Agency (Tandvårds- och läkemedelsförmånsverket, TLV) has published a decision regarding inclusion of number of consumable medical devices for the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) into the list of pharmaceutical benefits:

  • AeroChamber Plus Flow-Vu with small adult mask (purple) by Chiesi Farmaceutici S.p.A.
  • AeroChamber Plus Flow-Vu spray container with nozzle: kids’ design (green) by Chiesi Farmaceutici S.p.A

These devices were compared with the most relevant devices from the group Y93DC01 (breathing tank):

  • L'espace Mask, 6+ years and adults (vnr 734101) with the price of SEK 236.35 per piece
  • L'espace breathing chamber with nozzle, 6+ years and adults (vnr 734100) with the price of SEK 236.35 per piece

As the compared clinical benefits of AeroChamber and L’espace devices were the same, the TLV suggested to determine the similar price for both AeroChamber devices of SEK 236.35 per piece.
