Regular update of the Norwegian Laboratory Code System released
On September 23, 2024, the Norwegian Directorate of Health released an updated version of the Norwegian Laboratory Code (NLK) system (Norsk laboratoriekodeverk 7280.73). The associated tariffs (Laboratoriekodeverk som gir rett til refusjon) are not yet available. NLK system is used for activity-based reimbursement by the Norwegian Health Economics Administration (Helfo) for laboratory tests performed in outpatient settings.
Sixty-nine new codes were added, 209 codes were changed, and 16 codes were terminated. New codes belong to biochemistry, microbiology, clinical pharmacology, immunology, and transfusiology areas. Some examples of newly added codes are provided below.

- NPU62252 Us-Streptococcus anginosus group DNA (unspecified sample);
- NPU62805 P-Cysticercus antigen (plasma);
- NPU62829 Us-Acanthamoeba culture (unspecified sample);
- NPU62872 Us-Cefotetan+Cloxacillin (unspecified sample, sensitivity);
- NPU62873 Us-Doripenem (unspecified sample, sensitivity);
- NOR35334 U-Fentanyl (non-specific) (urine);
- NOR35335 U-Clonazepam (non-specific) (urine);
- NPU60804 P-IgE Api m 1 (bee venom), i208 (plasma);
- NPU62731 P-IgE Pol d 5 (wasp venom), i210 (plasma).
