Regular update of the Norwegian Laboratory Code System released
On March 23, 2024, the Norwegian Directorate of Health released an updated version of the Norwegian Laboratory Code (NLK) system (Norsk laboratoriekodeverk 7280.71) and associated tariffs (Laboratoriekodeverk som gir rett til refusjon) for state and private laboratories to be implemented no later than May 1, 2024.
NLK system is used for activity-based reimbursement by the Norwegian Health Economics Administration (Helfo) for laboratory tests performed in outpatient settings.
A total of 107 new codes were added in medical biochemistry, medical microbiology, and clinical pharmacology fields. Some examples of the newly added codes are:
- NPU01036 P-Acetylcholine receptor IgG (plasma);
- NOR35317 Us-Colistin resistance gene (mcr-1) (unspecified sample);
- NOR35326 Nail-Trichophyton rubrum complex DNA;
- NPU57999 P-HIV-2 RNA (plasma);
- NPU62403 P-Borrelia burgdorferi group IgG confirmation (plasma);
- NPU62500 Us-Treponema pallidum DNA sequence type (unspecified sample);
- NPU61043 U-4-Chloromethcathinone (4-CMC) (urine);
- NPU62434 P-Prednisolone (plasma);
- NPU62453 U-Lappaconitine (urine).
Furthermore, 92 codes were amended, and two codes were terminated.
