Rapid HTAs of seven medical devices released in Tuscany

The HTA body of the Tuscany Regional Healthcare issues three types of documents: full HTA reports, rapid HTA reports, and motivational forms. With regional decree 16951 of July 22, 2024, Tuscany Regional Healthcare published five new assessments and two reassessments of medical devices in the cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, surgical procedures, and obstetrics and gynecology areas.

Examples are provided below:

  • Minimally invasive left ventricular assist device IMPELLA 5.5 CATHETER KIT WITH SMART ASSIST by Abiomed for the treatment of cardiogenic shock for up to 14 days;
  • Mechanical thromboaspiration system with a suction catheter for use in coronary vessels INDIGO CAT RX by Penumbra for patients with significant thrombotic burden undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI);
  • Porcine collagen matrix implant BIOBRIDGE Collagen Matrix by Fibralign Corporation for lymphatic tissue repair after or in combination with surgical procedures for the treatment of lymphoedema (lymph node transfer, lymphatic venous anastomosis);
  • Uterine hemostatic tamponade device CELOX PPH by Medtrade Products for patients with postpartum hemorrhage resistant to uterotonic drugs.
