A new technology notification form for the Italian national HTA programme
A new online form for the notification of health technologies has been made available by Agenas (the Agency for Regional Health Services) at the following link: http://htadm.agenas.it. The form, available in Italian and English, can be filled with information on the technology and its intended use by registered users (registration is open).
Notification can be made by any stakeholder in the Italian system, including manufacturer.
Submissions can be made at any time during the year and those received within 30th June and 31st December will be collected within a prioritisation list from which, during the following semester, the technologies to assess will be selected by a prioritisation process.
Prioritisation will be performed by the Cabina di Regia per l’HTA, a national steering committee for HTA, created in 2015-2016 by the Ministry of Health including representatives of the Ministry of Health, four Regions, Agenas, and the Italian medicine agency (AIFA).
Such steering committee is appointed to coordinate the national HTA programme by defining lines of action related to the assessment of medical technologies at national level involving also relevant stakeholders such as representatives of patients, citizens and industry.
The steering committee commissions the assessment to Agenas or to the HTA units within the national HTA network.
Health technology assessments do not have direct impact on reimbursement of medical technologies in Italy, however they indirectly impact adoption of technologies at regional and local level.
