New SKS procedure codes from October 1, 2023 in Denmark

The Danish Health Data Authority quarterly updates the Health Care Classification System (Sundheds-væsenets Klassifikations System, SKS), which includes coding for procedures, diagnoses, and other codes (e.g., administrative, pharmaceuticals). The latest version was published in mid-September to come into force on October 1, 2023. 

Four new procedure codes concerning extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) were introduced. Some examples of newly added codes are provided below:

  • KFXE00A The use of VA-ECMO without surgical procedure;
  • KFXE00C The use of VV-ECMO without surgical procedure.
