New procedure codes were added to Belgian Nomenclature in May 2024

On May 1, 2024, the Belgian National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (INAMI/RIZIV) updated several articles of the Nomenclature, including the introduction of new procedure codes with reimbursement fees and associated conditions concerning pulmonary, endoscopy and in-vitro diagnostic fields. Some examples of newly added codes are presented below.

Several new codes were introduced in Article 20 "Internal medicine", including the following:

  • 471892-471903 Bronchoscopy with the placement of a stent or endobronchial valve or endobronchial clip;
  • 471914-471925 Bronchoscopy with peripheral lung biopsy (including possible fluoroscopy) with the use of ultrasound-guided navigation or electromagnetic navigation.

One new code was added in Article 24, "Clinical Biology": 542990-543001 Protein electrophoresis with curve and calculation in patients with monoclonal gammopathy #(Maximum 1) (Cumulation rule 11).
