New Fund to support children with severe life-threatening and chronic diseases, including orphan diseases, created in Russia
On January 5, 2021, the President of the Russian Federation signed the Decree on the establishment of the Fund to support children with severe life-threatening and chronic diseases, including rare (orphan) diseases called the “Circle of Kindness”. The founder of the Fund is the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. The activities of the Fund are carried out at the expense of budgetary allocations from the federal budget, voluntary contributions, and donations, as well as other sources in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation.
The main goal of the Fund is to implement an additional mechanism for organizing and financially supporting the provision of medical care (also, if necessary, outside the Russian Federation) to children with severe life-threatening and chronic diseases, including rare (orphan) diseases, providing such children with medicines and medical products, including those not registered in the Russian Federation as well as technical means of rehabilitation.
