New codes for reimbursement of medical telemonitoring activities introduced in France

On July 05, 2023, the new version of the List of reimbursable products and services (LPPR) was released. The following codes for reimbursement of digital medical devices used for medical telemonitoring activities (DMN-TSM) were registered in generic form in the Chapter 1, sub-chapter 6 of the List of reimbursable products and services (LPPR):

  • 1668102 - DMN-TSM, chronic kidney failure, dialysis, transplant, monthly package;
  • 1659468 - DMN-TSM, respiratory failure, adult patient, monthly package;
  • 1612544 - DMN-TSM, chronic heart failure, monthly package;
  • 1654962 - DMN-TSM, Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes on insulin, monthly package;
  • 1694358 - DMN-TSM, gestational diabetes on insulin, monthly package.

As the reimbursement codes presented here provide an organizational benefit, their tariff is €50 per patient per month. More details regarding the tariffs for medical telemonitoring activities were provided in the Order of the Ministry of Health and Prevention on May 16, 2023 (already reported by MTRC here).

The registration of these codes in the LPPR is based on the four Orders of the Ministry of Health and Prevention on the inclusion of five medical telemonitoring activities relating to kidney failure, respiratory failure, heart failure, and diabetes. The Orders provide additional information, such as the reimbursed indications, minimum technical specifications for digital medical devices, minimum requirements applicable to the medical telemonitoring operator, terms of prescription, use, distribution of digital medical devices, and registration conditions.

The Orders are effective from July 1, 2023.
