The 2021 list of medical technologies approved for innovation funding (NUB) released in Germany

On January 29, 2021, the Institute for the Hospital Remuneration System (InEK) has published the List of the requests for innovation funding (NUB) that were submitted by the hospitals in 2020. The medical technologies belonging to the cardiovascular, ENT, eHealth, gastrointestinal, neuromodulation, neurovascular, orthopedic, and other technology groups obtained positive status 1.

Rehappy health app received reimbursement in Germany

In early January 2021, the new reimbursable health app was introduced on the Directory of digital health applications (DiGAs) at the Federal Office for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM). These applications can be prescribed by physicians and psychotherapists and will be reimbursed by health insurers.

Thrombectomy after stroke assessed in Swedish Skåne Region

In Sweden, the Priority Council of Skåne Region prepares and presents suggestions for new methods, routines, and treatments, to be included in the healthcare system. In April 2019, the HTA report for thrombectomy 6 to 24 hours after stroke was released. The health economic analysis showed that the use of thrombectomy during extended time frames is expected to be cost-saving in a socio-economic perspective and increases patient benefit measured in terms of won quality-adjusted life years.

MTRC has released European reimbursement report for surgical and endovascular treatment of brain aneurysm in 11 EU countries

Report includes analysis for the following procedures: surgical clipping, endovascular placement of a flow diversion device, endovascular coiling and stent-assisted coiling. The analysis covers procedure coding, payment mechanism, reimbursement tariffs and policy restrictions in 11 EU countries including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.
