MTRC is looking for a Senior Health Economist
MTRC has over 25 full-time employees and multiple part-time consultants. Our offices are in the UK (HEOR), Spain (Market Access) and Bulgaria (Billing and Contracting). Most of the employees are home-based. MTRC provides support to large Med Tech corporations (80% of the business) and SMEs (20% of the business) in the fields of market access analysis and strategy, Evidence Synthesis, and Health Economics. MTRC provides regular support to 17 out of the top 30 global medical device companies.
We are looking for an experienced person with a background in health economics, primarily from academia or life science consulting. This position presents a great opportunity to develop into a strong professional in the medical device and diagnostics field with experience in applying health economic principles in projects (publications, HTA and reimbursement submissions) in multiple European countries. The position has a clear path for a directorship role (Health Economics) at MTRC with corresponding benefits.
One of the key aspects of health economics work at MTRC is involvement in the analysis in multiple European countries. We acknowledge that most of the potential candidates would lack an in-depth understanding of reimbursement systems and costing methods in countries of interest for MTRC. However, this does not represent a barrier for recruitment, as we expect to train the new Senior Health Economist in these domains; MTRC is a well-recognized market leader in understanding reimbursement and payment systems in 20 European countries.
MTRC is involved in several types of health economic projects:
- Adaptation of health economic models to different European countries (for publication or as part of reimbursement/HTA submissions). In the past, adaptations included Belgium, France, Germany, Norway, Poland, Sweden, the UK. MTRC has a strong expertise in cost analysis in the majority of European countries
- Development of de novo models, including diagnostic tests and medical devices (typically with the focus on the UK, Germany or the US)
- Contribution to health economic sections of reimbursement and HTA submissions (Hungary, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, UAE)
- Incorporation of health economic outcomes in the protocol of clinical trials
The position is home-based, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer of the company.
Compensation includes a package of fixed salary, quarterly and annual bonus.
Responsibilities include:
- End-to-end execution of health economic projects (model structure, search for clinical, quality of life, cost inputs, building the model in MS Excel, writing report and manuscript)
- Supervision of a small team of health economists
- Contribution to business development (participation in calls with clients, development of commercial proposals)
- Creation and supervision of content for marketing focused on health economics
- Leading exploration and research in the new prospective areas for the company
- Representing MTRC at the meetings with external stakeholders (individual clients, conferences, meetings of the industry associations)
Requirements:
- Academic or consulting experience in the field of health economics, more than 5 years
- Strong technical modeling skills in MS Excel (decision trees, state-transition models)
- Peer-reviewed publications will be a benefit
- Knowledge of European languages (other than English) will be a benefit
Candidates should send their CVs, including the list of publications, to recruitment@mtrconsult.com
For recruiting companies: we are not seeking support in recruitment.
