Med Tech-related technology assessments and clinical guidelines from NICE in May 2020

In May 2020, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) published only two new Medtech innovation briefings (for cytokine adsorption devices for treating respiratory failure in people with COVID-19 and space from Depression (SilverCloud) for treating adults with depression).

MedTech Innovation Briefing is the NICE's advice program for innovative technologies. It provides an overview of clinical effectiveness, safety, and cost. It does not offer formal guidance, and it, therefore, does not provide any recommendations.

Two new Medtech Innovation Briefings for Cytokine adsorption devices for treating respiratory failure in people with COVID-19 (the adsorption devices are cartridges containing adsorbent materials, such as porous polymer beads or resin) and Space from Depression for treating adults with depression (an online program used to treat depression, delivered with support and guidance from a therapist, as an alternative to face-to-face cognitive behavioral therapy) have been published in May.
