Guide on choosing digital medical devices for professional use published in France

At the end of June 2023, the French National Authority for Health (HAS) published a new document with the goal of improving professional practices: Digital medical devices for professional use – Guide on choosing digital medical devices for professional use.

The first report on the integration of digital medical devices (DMD) for professional use into clinical practice - State of the art and decision support opportunities, was published in November 2022.

The Guide on choosing DMDs for professional use is intended for healthcare professionals (self-employed or working in healthcare establishments), networks, and hospital purchasing groups. It aims to guide the selection of these devices by professionals and purchasing structures by listing the key questions to ask themselves before purchasing DMDs. It is not intended to provide specific answers to assess a particular DMD or to establish a score. It also aims to develop confidence in the use of DMDs for professional use and thus promote, when they are useful and effective, their integration into the health system.
