Danish Health Care Classification System updated in April 2023
The Danish Health Data Authority (Sundheddatastyrelsen) quarterly updates the Health Care Classification System (Sundheds-væsenets Klassifikations System, SKS). In mid-March 2023, the latest system changes were published to come into force on April 1, 2023.
Updates include introducing eight new surgical procedure codes (in the areas of abdominal surgery, gynecological procedures, and procedures for liver and kidney cysts), one medical procedure code, 35 codes for regional anesthesia, one code for diagnostic imaging, one for nuclear medicine, and several additional codes (Tillægskoder).
Some examples of newly added codes are provided below:
- UXMF05 MRI scan of scapula;
- KJAL01A Laparoscopic biopsy of omentum;
- KJJA34 Percutaneous puncture of liver cyst;
- KLCD12 Laparoscopic hysterectomy with vaginal access.
Twenty-two new diagnosis codes were implemented as well.
