The 2025 version of the Swiss CHOP code nomenclature published
On October 31, 2024, the Swiss Federal Statistics Office (UFS) released the systematic version of the procedure code (CHOP) nomenclature for 2025. The nomenclature is now available in German, Italian, and French languages and will come into force on January 1, 2025. Multiple new procedure codes were introduced in various fields, including endoscopy, extracorporeal treatments, in-vitro diagnostics, interventional radiology, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, and radiotherapy.
Some examples of newly introduced codes per technology group are provided below:
Endoscopy:
- 44.99.A1 Gastrogastrostomy or gastroenterostomy using ultrasound-guided stent placement, endoscopic.
Extracorporeal treatments:
- 00.90.42 Static cold storage of a donor organ;
- 00.90.A3 Ex-vivo machine perfusion for organ preservation, liver, more than 7 days.
In-vitro diagnostics and companion diagnostics:
- 99.AA.13 Comprehensive genomic diagnostics of malignant neoplasms, tumor profiling of more than 60 to 100 genes.
Obstetrics and gynecology:
- 75.82 Obstetric hemostasis with the device for vacuum application.
Orthopedics:
- 81.1A Arthrodesis of the upper ankle joint;
Radiotherapy:
- 92.53.31 Stereotactic X-ray therapy, eye;
- 92.54.22 Proton therapy, fractionated, 3 or more irradiation fields.
Surgical procedures:
- 54.99.52 Surgical application of an external device for fascial traction on the abdomen [abdominal wall traction], with definable force setting.
