2026 RedETS working plan published in Spain
On April 9, 2026, the Spanish Network of HTA Agencies (RedETS) published the 2026 working plan for health technology assessments. The plan includes a wide range of topics in cardiovascular, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, e-health, endocrine, endoscopy, gastrointestinal, ICU/OR, in-vitro diagnostics, neurology and neurosurgery, neuromodulation, ophthalmology, radiology, robotic surgery, and some other fields.
Some examples of the technologies considered for evaluation are provided below:
- Evaluation of the efficacy, safety, and cost-effectiveness of the implementation of negative pressure therapy in the primary care setting by SESCS (Canary Islands Healthcare Evaluation Service);
- Evaluation of the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of the use of portable ultrasound in mobile ICUs by AETSA (Andalusian Health Technology Assessment Department);
- Artificial intelligence for the prediction of sepsis in adults by AETSA;
- Budgetary impact and/or cost-effectiveness of the implementation of systematic screening for diabetic retinopathy by tele-ophthalmology with digital retinography and a 45º non-mydriatic camera compared to opportunistic screening by AQuAS (Agency for Health Quality and Assessment of Catalonia);
- Evaluation of the efficacy, safety, and cost-effectiveness of the use of reflux control devices in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) by ACIS/Avalia-t (Galician Health Knowledge Agency / Galician Agency for Health Technology Assessment);
- Rapid immunoassay to differentiate bacterial from non-bacterial infection in the emergency department by ISCIII (Health Institute Carlos III);
- Evaluation of the efficacy and safety of surgical devices indicated for the controlled evacuation of tissue and/or fluid in a surgical intervention of the cerebral or ventricular system by minimally invasive surgery by AETSA;
- Spinal cord neurostimulation for the treatment of chronic pain of the trunk and lower extremities by SESCS.
