2024/25 National Genomic Test Directory released in England
In January 2024, NHS England issued an updated version of the National Genomic Test Directory for 2024/2025, which lists genomic tests commissioned by NHS England via Genomic Laboratory Hubs. Three documents were published specifying test codes, clinical indications, target genes, the technology by which tests are available, and eligibility criteria for patients:
- National Genomic Test Directory for cancer (version 8);
- National Genomic Test Directory for rare and inherited diseases (version 6);
- Rare and inherited disease eligibility criteria (version 6).
Six new codes (test-indication combinations) were introduced in the Test Directory for cancer. Some examples of the newly added codes are provided below:
- M91.84 MYC rearrangement FISH for acute lymphoblastic leukemia;
- M91.86 t(2;8)(p12;q24) IGK-MYC FISH for acute lymphoblastic leukemia;
Four new codes (test-indication combinations) were introduced for rare and inherited diseases. Some examples of new codes are provided below:
- R445.1 Common aneuploidy testing NIPT (genome-wide);
- R448.1 Prenatal testing (small variants/CNVs/STRs, single interval).
