Swiss Federal Council approves adjustments to the comprehensive outpatient reimbursement system

The comprehensive tariff system was initially approved by the Federal Council on April 30, 2025, and will replace the TARMED catalog, which had been in use for approximately two decades.

The key adjustments approved by the Federal Council include modifications in the following areas:

  • Hospital emergency services and non-medical services (TARDOC);
  • Combination therapies for tumor treatment (Outpatient flat rates);
  • Differentiated tariff structure for wound care (TARDOC and outpatient flat rates);
  • Implementation of temporary transitional measures for billing pathology services (Outpatient flat rates);
  • Formal corrections (correction of identified errors in both tariff structures).

The Organization for Outpatient Physician Tariffs (OAAT AG), which manages the development of the tariff system, has confirmed that the definitive versions for the January 1, 2026, launch are "Ambulante Pauschalen 1.1c" and "TARDOC 1.4c". Work on the first regular cycle of updates for the system, planned for implementation in 2027, is already underway.
