Regular update of the Norwegian Laboratory Code System released
On September 23, 2025, the Norwegian Directorate of Health released an updated version of the Norwegian Laboratory Code (NLK) system (Norsk laboratoriekodeverk, v77) and associated tariffs (Laboratoriekodeverk som gir rett til refusjon) for state and private laboratories. The NLK system is used for activity-based reimbursement by the Norwegian Health Economics Administration (Helfo) for laboratory tests performed in outpatient settings.
A total of 35 new codes were added, 56 existing codes were modified, and seven codes were removed.
Some examples of newly introduced codes are provided below:
- NPU63115 Sp-Phosphotau/Beta-amyloid 42 ratio;
- NPU63270 U-Chromium (Cr);
- NPU14448 P-Bartonella quintana IgG;
- NPU63246 P-Ocrelizumab;
- NPU63263 DNA-DPYD gene (NG_008807.2:g.346167C>G).
The letter at the beginning of the code description represents the sample type: Sp - spinal fluid, P - plasma, U - urine.
