A regular update of the Danish SKS coding system from July 2024

The Danish Health Data Authority (Sundheddatastyrelsen) quarterly updates the Health Care Classification System (Sundhedsvæsenets Klassifikations System, SKS). The updated version was published in mid-June 2024 to come into force on July 1, 2024.

Six new surgical procedure codes, twenty new medical procedure codes, and nine new codes for diagnostic investigations were introduced concerning multiple areas, including diagnostic imaging, gastrointestinal, gynecology, orthopedics, and surgical procedures. Some examples of newly added codes are provided below:

• UXUC06 Ultrasound examination of arteries in the thorax;
• KJGB31B Laparoscopic transperineal excision of the rectum;
• KLEA02 Transvaginal US-guided drainage of pelvic abscess;
• KNGD21A Arthroscopic reinsertion of the meniscal root in the knee joint.
