New national screening program for type 1 diabetes and celiac disease in children to be launched in 2024 in Italy

On September 27, 2023, the Italian Ministry of Health released a decree with which they adopted the launch of the new national screening program, which will be launched in January 2024. The new program will screen (every couple of years) children 1-17 years for type 1 diabetes and celiac disease. 

A budget of 3.85 million euros is authorized for each of the years 2024 and 2025, and of 2.85 million euros per year starting from the year 2026.
