Prospective cost-weights for NordDRG 2021 are published in Sweden

In late October 2020, the Swedish prospective cost-weights for NordDRG 2021 were released by the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen).

DRG cost- weight is a relative measure of the cost of care and treatment for an average patient in each DRG group. The calculating of prospective national weights is based on Cost Per Patient (KPP) data collected, processed, and compiled by Swedish Municipalities and Regions (SKR). Detailed information on how DRG cost-weights are calculated can be found in the Work Process for National Prospective Weights for 2021.

To obtain DRG tariffs, DRG cost-weights must be multiplying on base tariff estimated 62,855 SEK in 2021.

Two prospective cost-weights lists are published for 2021:

  • Prospective weights for inpatient and outpatient groups in somatics
  • Prospective weights for inpatient and outpatient care groups in psychiatric care
