Reimbursement summary for angioplasty of arteries of lower extremities

This post presents an extract from our reimbursement analysis for angioplasty of arteries lower extremities using plain and drug-coated balloons (DCBs) for peripheral artery disease in England, France and Germany. Plain balloon angioplasty is reimbursement via DRG solely and DCBs are reimbursement via combination of DRG and add-on reimbursement.

Belgian INAMI/RIZIV updated the List of reimbursable implants and medical devices

New material codes for a locking stylus for extraction of endovenous electrodes and system with recovery lasso for the extraction of endovenous electrodes by femoral approach were added to the List of reimbursable devices of the Belgian National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (INAMI-RIZIV) in April 2020. Some reimbursement conditions were updated as well.

New material codes and related conditions of reimbursement have been implemented for the following devices:

  • Locking stylus for extraction of endovenous electrodes
    • The device will be reimbursed with a generic tariff without registration on the Nominative list.
    • The following material code has been applied:

180810 - 180821 “Locking stylus for extraction of endovenous electrodes” with a tariff of €603.79

  • A system with recovery lasso for the extraction of endovenous electrodes by the femoral approach 
    • The device will be reimbursed with a generic tariff without registration on the Nominative list.
    • The following material code has been applied:

180832 - 180843 “System with recovery lasso for the extraction of endovenous electrodes by femoral approach” with a tariff of €787.32.

  • There are specific conditions of reimbursement for these two technologies, provided in paragraph F-§03 of the List of reimbursable implants and medical devices.

Other updates have also been implemented:

  • Modification of the wording of the services 158815-158826, 158830-158841
  • Addition of a new interpretative rule concerning the service 152751-152762
  • Modification of the wording of the service 170634-170645 “Surgical aortic valve replacement by aortotomy with a system for rapid placement, including the rapid placement system and all accessories” and related conditions in paragraph F-§09
  • An Updated List of networks and hospitals that meet the criteria for the services 172734-172745 concerning devices for a percutaneous aortic valve stent implantation and accessories (reimbursement conditions F-§09)
  • An updated list of hospitals authorized to replace abdominal stents (reimbursement conditions G-§04)
