G-BA Innovation Fund calls for proposals for new topics and funding criteria
On the 17th of February 2020, the Innovation Committee at the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) invited external stakeholders to suggest topics and criteria for future funding. The call for proposals is published on its website. Moreover, the submission of proposals for members of the new pool of experts was announced.
The deadline for submitting proposals for the topics for Innovation Committee funding ends on April 15, 2020, at noon.
Also, the submission of proposals for members of the new pool of experts was announced. The new statutory regulations in Section 92b (6) SGB V provide that a pool of experts should be formed instead of the previous expert advisory board. The main task of the pool of experts will be the assessment of funding applications and the submission of recommendations for funding decisions to the Innovation Committee.
Healthcare actors who do not belong to the Innovation Committee, in particular associations of medical and non-medical service providers, associations of hospitals, associations of health insurance funds, scientific associations, universities, non-university research institutions, and patient organizations, can submit proposals for membership in the pool of experts within a specified period. A self-suggestion by an interested party is also possible, provided that the proposal is accompanied by at least one reference from a healthcare player. Also, the members of the Innovation Committee have the right to propose. The respective designation period is two years.
The deadline for submitting proposals for membership in the pool of experts ends on March 17, 2020, at noon.
