This post presents an extract from our reimbursement analysis for angioplasty of arteries lower extremities using plain and drug-coated balloons (DCBs) for peripheral artery disease in England, France and Germany. Plain balloon angioplasty is reimbursement via DRG solely and DCBs are reimbursement via combination of DRG and add-on reimbursement.

The Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare has published the 2018 version of the Classification of surgical interventions

The Swedish Classification of Care Measures (Klassifikation av vårdåtgärder, KVÅ) contains codes for surgical (Klassifikation av kirurgiska åtgärder, KKÅ) and non-surgical (Klassifikation av medicinska åtgärder, KMÅ) medical interventions. It is managed by the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen) and updated annually.

Eight new surgical procedure codes for the following procedures will be added in 2018:

  • Partial excision of outer ear (DAB30);
  • Total excision of outer ear (DAB40);
  • Occlusion of anal fistula with fatty tissue (JHD65);
  • Other incision or excision of anal fistula (JHD97);
  • Primary reverse total prosthetic replacement of humeral head without cement (NBB59);
  • Primary reverse total prosthetic replacement of humeral head with hybrid technology (NBB69);
  • Secondary reverse total prosthetic replacement of humeral head without cement (NBC59);
  • Secondary reverse total prosthetic replacement of humeral head with hybrid technology (NBC69).
