Report on possible improvements for cancer screening published in Sweden
In June 2022, the National Board of Health and Welfare published the report "Towards a more coordinated cancer screening". The Government commissioned the assignment to develop a plan to improve cancer screening to the National Board of Health and Welfare, jointly with Regional Cancer Centers (RCC).
The National Board of Health and Welfare reported on measures taken to improve coordination in the cancer screening field and a number of proposals aimed to achieve a more equal and effective cancer screening. For example, a model for the national evaluation of screening programs was developed based on the model for evaluating the national guidelines; the Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE) was commissioned to assess cancer screening with liquid biopsies so that the National Board could decide on the introduction.
