NHSX announced Digital Health Partnership Award first phase winners
On September 29, 2021, NHSX announced phase-one winners of a Digital Health Partnership Award. Applications were submitted by NHS organizations in July 2021. The Award will help NHS organizations receive funding to accelerate the adoption of digital health products and services to monitor patients with long-term conditions remotely. There will be three categories of funding: projects requiring the support of up to £100,000, £250,000, and £500,000.
Fourteen projects have been awarded in the first phase. Some examples are provided below:
- Respiratory remote monitoring program: will utilize existing virtual consultation technology in conjunction with a new asynchronous remote patient monitoring platform;
- MSK (Musculoskeletal) care pathway;
- Evidence-based scaling of virtual wards: an expansion of the virtual ward project (built on the innovative digital-first model of oximitry@home) to include a COPD;
- Cardiac rehabilitation services: will provide patients who require Phase 3 cardiac rehabilitation services through remote monitoring. The project will also offer a range of devices such as blood pressure and pulse oximeter;
- Self-care and remote monitoring support in Primary Care;
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) management;
- Secure video sharing platform: it enables sharing seizure videos for remote clinical interpretation and management advice. An expansion of this service is planned to include the wider neurology service and the movement disorder service and will support children with complex epilepsy;
- Supporting children with type 2 diabetes.
The second phase of the Award is opening for bids in November 2021.
