New procedure codes were added to Belgian Nomenclature in December 2023

On December 1, 2023, the National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (INAMI/RIZIV) updated several articles of the Nomenclature, including the introduction of new procedure codes with reimbursement fees and associated conditions concerning cardiovascular, neurology, and obstetrics fields. Some examples of newly added codes are presented below.

One new code was added under article 11 “General special services” (Prestations spéciales générales): 354325  “Placement of an intra-arterial catheter followed by continuous invasive monitoring of blood pressure, with the exception of the day anesthesia, the day surgical or obstetrical intervention, the day interventional radiological service or the day invasive or interventional diagnostic cardiological service” with associated conditions of reimbursement and a tariff of €25.47

Two new codes for the treatment of chronic pain were introduced in article 12 “Anaesthesiology” (Anesthésiologie), including 202112-202123 “Percutaneous radiofrequency treatment of the genicular nerve” with a tariff of €188.57.
