Plain balloon angioplasty is reimbursement via DRG solely and DCBs are reimbursement via combination of DRG and add-on reimbursement.

New procedure codes in Belgian Nomenclature came into force in November 2019

The health benefit Nomenclature of the Belgian National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (INAMI/RIZIV) includes the benefits (with specific hospital and ambulatory codes) that are reimbursed by the compulsory health care insurance, wholly or partially. The Nomenclature and its changes are published in the Belgian Official Gazette.

On September 16, 2019, the Nomenclature was updated. The update brought changes in chapter V of Nomenclature, regarding the creation of new codes and modification of existing codes.

The changes of the following articles of the Nomenclature will come into force since November 1, 2019:

Key changes in the abdominal surgery (14 d) article:

  • New code 242911 - 242922 “Removal of a pancreatic escrow” was added

Key changes in the radiodiagnostics (17) article:

  • New code 458990 - 459001 “CT for intraoperative localization performed during a surgical procedure referred to in article 14 with a movable or mobile CT device” was added
  • Conditions for reimbursement of this code were added
  • Minor modifications of existing codes were made
