New procedure and diagnostic codes added to the private reimbursement schedule in England
In February 2023, the Clinical Coding and Schedule Development (CCSD) working group, which develops and maintains procedural and diagnostics nomenclatures for private payers in England, published Bulletins 188 and 084 with changes to be implemented no later than March 23, 2023.
Five new procedure codes were added concerning interventional radiology, robotic surgery, and radiotherapy; some examples of new codes are presented below:
- E5693 Robotic-assisted lung volume reduction – bilateral;
- X7003 Planning and delivery of a single course of radiotherapy for keloid scar.
One new diagnostic code, 8274B, “Scleroderma Immunoblot (SCLI)”, was introduced.
