A new Nomenclature article for remote care with four new codes introduced in Belgium

On August 01, 2022, Belgian National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (INAMI-RIZIV) launched a new reimbursement framework for remote medical consultations and changed the Nomenclature accordingly. The INAMI Nomenclature represents the services reimbursed by health care insurance, partially or totally. Article 37 was introduced under new Chapter XI with the same name - “Remote care” (Soins à distance).

The following new procedure codes for remote consultations by physicians with corresponding conditions of reimbursement were introduced under article 37:

  • 101673 “Video consultation by a general practitioner” with a tariff of €23.06;
  • 101695 “Video consultation by a specialist physician” with a tariff of €23.06;
  • 101710 “Video consultation by a general practitioner based on acquired rights or by a holder of a medical degree” with a tariff of €14.11;
  • 101732 “Telephone consultation by a doctor” with a tariff of €10.38.
