List of medical procedures reimbursed with restrictions updated in the Netherlands

On May 07, 2024, the Dutch Healthcare Institute (ZIN) published the updated list of medical procedures reimbursed under basic health insurance with restrictions or limitations. The procedures have the so-called "claim" codes (aanspraakcodes). The Dutch Healthcare Authority assigns the "claim" codes based on positions published by the ZIN. 

The implemented changes include additional indications for autologous fat transplantation after a total breast removal published by ZIN on March 27, 2024.

New med tech-related decision support documents published in Austria

On July 15, 2024, the Austrian Institute for HTA (AIHTA) published three decision support documents that provide recommendations regarding the inclusion of new medical interventions in the catalog of individual medical services (MEL) for reimbursement, as well as two updates to previous decision support documents. The decisions relate to cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, interventional radiology, neuromodulation, and endocrine technology groups.

Implementation of new Swiss outpatient reimbursement system postponed until 2026

On June 19, 2024, the Swiss Federal Council granted partial approval to the new outpatient reimbursement system, consisting of the TARDOC catalog of individual service tariffs and the flat-rate system, which were developed independently. Adjustments were requested to ensure better coordination and adherence to cost neutrality. The full implementation of the new system is now postponed until 2026.

Updates in the coverage of medical services in Switzerland in 2024

On June 18, 2024, the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health published the changes that will occur to the Services Ordinance (KLV/OPre), which determines coverage of medical services in Switzerland. The updates will enter into force on July 1, 2024, and they relate to the list of explicitly evaluated services (Annex 1 of KLV/OPre), outpatient-before-hospital services (Annex 1a), List of Tools and Equipment (Annex 2), and List of Analyses (Annex 3).

Dutch Healthcare Authority published the 2024 update of the Digital Care Funding Guide

On May 14, 2024, the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) published another update of the 2024 Digital Care Funding Guide, which describes the possibilities for funding digital care depending on the healthcare sector, including new funding for Integrated Care Transformation Plans and the implementation of a novel platform for the assessment of innovative digital applications and/or technologies.
