Health app "Cara Care for irritable bowel syndrome" obtained reimbursement in Germany
On December 26, 2021, the new health app was introduced in the Directory of digital health applications (DiGAs) at the Federal Office for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) and thus became reimbursable. These apps can be prescribed by physicians and psychotherapists and will be reimbursed by health insurers. In total, 28 health apps are now available at the DiGA Directory.
"Cara Care for irritable bowel syndrome" (HiDoc Technologies GmbH, Germany) is a digital health application used as a stand-alone therapy for irritable bowel syndrome. The health app serves primarily to reduce symptoms of functional gastrointestinal complaints. Secondly, it is expected that the use of the app would help increase the disease-related quality of life, improve health literacy, alleviate anxiety and depression, and activity restrictions. "Cara Care for irritable bowel syndrome" is available in German with a tariff of €718.20.
