Guide to good practice for digital and data-driven health and care technologies published in England
In January 2021, the NHS AI Lab has launched the guide to good practice for digital and data-driven health and care technologies to support innovators to understand what the NHS is looking for when it buys digital and data-driven technology for use in health and care. There is an update of the initially published guide in 2018, and now also reflect new initiatives, for example, the creation of the Centre for Improving Data Collaboration.
The guide consists of the following 12 sub-chapters:
- How to operate ethically
- Have a clear value proposition
- Usability and accessibility
- Technical assurance
- Clinical safety
- Data protection
- Data transparency
- Cybersecurity
- Regulation
- Interoperability and open standards
- Generate evidence that the product achieves clinical, social, economic, or behavioral benefits
- Define the commercial strategy
The document has been updated throughout to reflect the latest position. Guidance on technical assurance, clinical safety, and regulation has been expanded and now comprise their own chapters.
