Funding for digital support technologies by NHSX during the COVID-19 pandemic
NHSX provides funding through 'Techforce 19' to innovators who can find digital ways to benefit those in need of help, including those in need of mental health support and social care. The technology is intended to help people who might be most impacted by the long term effects of remaining housebound during the COVID-19 pandemic.
NHSX is launching the program and is managed by the GovTech venture firm PUBLIC and AHSN Network.
There is a total of £500,000 available to bid for – with funding of up to £25,000 per company open to innovators with solutions that could be applied on a scale over the next few weeks. The program explicitly seeks digital solutions that can be quickly deployed and may include:
- Providing remote social care
- Optimization of the care and volunteer sector;
- Communication and messaging
- Support for mental health – by peer groups or self-management tools for example
- Any other approaches during this period to ease pressure on services and people
Techforce19 is a new challenge, open to innovative tech companies in this country that will strive to create usable digital solutions to support people staying at home in the coming weeks and months.
