Expert opinion on the G-BA Innovation Fund recommends continuing the Fund permanently in Germany

On April 19, 2022, the Innovation Committee at the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) has informed of the favorable results of the scientific evaluation of the G-BA Innovation Fund performed by the economic research center Prognos AG.

In the final report that analyzed the work of the Innovation Fund in 2019-2021, it is concluded that the work results are considered successful with appropriate use of funds and transparent communication. Projects funded by the Innovation Fund can be used to gain the reliable knowledge required for the further development of healthcare within the statutory health insurance system.

This report supports the plans of the government coalition parties to establish the Innovation Fund permanently (currently, the Innovation Fund is extended until 2024). The development of the report was commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Health.
