Dutch ZonMw accepts applications for grants under the Medical Specialist Care and Research program
The Medical Specialist Care and Research (MedZO) program focuses on stimulating knowledge development on the effectiveness and efficiency of appropriate care in general hospitals, rehabilitation centers, categorical hospitals or institutions, and independent specialist medical care centers. The MedZO program was launched in 2024 as part of the Integrated Care Agreement (IZA) framework and has a total budget of €40 million until 2028.
On July 10, 2024, ZonMw announced the submission of grant applications for subsidy round “Line 1: Appropriate and efficient care” of the MedZO program, which is intended for projects focused on one of the following topics:
- Research on patient-relevant outcomes and alternative forms of financing for innovative treatment;
- Research on the development and application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technologies to promote appropriate and efficient care.
A total of €17,725 million is available for this subsidy round. For applications by an individual institution, the maximum budget that can be requested is €500,000 per application. For grant applications in the consortium, the budget that can be requested is €1,5 million per application. The maximum duration of a project is 36 months. Only medical institutions that do not qualify for academic care contributions (Beschikbaarheidbijdrage Academische Zorgand, BBAZ) can apply for the subsidy.
The ZonMw will accept applications until October 15, 2024.
