Dutch Healthcare Authority implemented new funding for shared decision-making and proactive care planning in the 2025 DRG package
On October 01, 2024, the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) published the second release of the 2025 DRG package (RZ25b) that applies to specialist medical care and geriatric rehabilitation care. To support and stimulate the implementation of appropriate care principles in specialist medical care, NZa introduced the funding program for joint decision-making and proactive care planning in the second release of the DRG package for 2025 (RZ25b).
- To support joint decision-making, a new procedure code 190098 “Consult and decide together” was implemented. It will be included in the DRG logic for outpatient and remote care to provide better insight into which patients and within which DRGs are relevant for joint decision-making and to allocate costs for shared decision-making into DRG in a more targeted manner;
- A supplementary payment (OZP) for proactive care planning (code 190099) includes discussing wishes and boundaries at an early stage in the palliative phase, resulting in an individual, transmural care plan that is coordinated and shared with the care providers involved. The supplementary payment with a national tariff of €694.92 belongs to the “Other add-on” category.
The effective date of the release is January 1, 2025.
